El Carmen de Víboral is a town located in the east region of Antioquia. Its average temperature is 18 degree Celsius.  It has 56 rural districts and its total extension is 448 kilometers squared. The town has a total population of 45.578 people as of 2013 census. The urban zone has approximately 23.600 inhabitants and the rural area has an estimated population of 19.978. Its surrounding area includes 7 municipalities: El Santuario, Marinilla, Rionegro, La Ceja, La Union, Cocorna and Sonsón. People love to go to this town because it is very beautiful.  In this town, there are several tourist attractions and festivities that make this place to be distinguished particularly for its culture.

Institute of Culture Sixto Arango Gallo

It is the largest cultural center of the town, where art and thought are promoted. The rooms of this house are adapted according to different themes, as follows: The Pottery Workshop, The Art Gallery, The Theatre, The Audiovisual Production Room, The History Center and The Office of Tourism. There are also various art courses such as music, theater, painting, literature and dance.

This is a monument to craftsmanship located at the main entrance of the town. Its shape of a crescent moon is what attracts to locals and foreigners. There, ceramic tableware sets are exhibited and also it serves as playground for residents of the town.

This is a spacious place, nice and organized. Its church “Nuestra Señora Del Carmen” excels for its beautiful architecture. There is a monument to Simon Bolivar (a Hispanic-American liberator), a fountain and a variety of trees.

It is a project of intervention in urban aesthetic and identity symbol of El Carmen De Viboral. Designs have been performed with cuts of tableware forming figures such as farmers, fruits and geometric pieces that have some engraved texts and poems of local writers such as the recognized poet Jose Manuel Arango.

As already know, In El Carmen De Viboral there is a variety of water and natural resources that attract the attention of all types of tourists, so the beauty of these places captivates our visitors. For example, the waterfall Picacho, the cannon Santo Domingo, the Morro Bonifacio and the three crosses

Social Places 

El Carmen De Viboral has many social places as: restaurants, estaderos, clubs and cafés. The most recognized sites are: The Zona Rosa where the most popular  clubs are: Rainforest, Botsuana, Le Club, Tropical and others. Restaurants:  “The Frisolerita” and Alfonso’s. Coffees: Café the Special, Café of the stories, café Crescent Moon, Café Caeiro... On November 12th, 2014 awards were performed for "the best of eastern Antioquia" were performed at The Coffee Shop “The Special”  won  the best cup of coffee in eastern Antioquia.

La Virgen Del Carmen Festival

 In the festival of “La Virgen Del Carmen” there a tribute to “La Virgen Del Carmen” patroness saint of the town is performed, with processions, novenas and fireworks. La Virgen Del Carmen Festival is takes place in the month of June every year

Viboral Rock Bands and Rock Culture

  It is an event where bands from around the country meet up of the genre Rock. Viboral Rock is a space created by the Institute of Culture with the intention of publicizing bands that are starting in the genre Rock. There are three days of festival.This takes place in the month of March or April every year.


International Theater Festival "Noble Gesture"

The International Theater Festival Noble Gesture has established itself as one of the most important and prominent province events in the country, obtained recognition for more than nineteen years of commitment and delivery to the act and theatrical shows. It is an event that has more than 750 artists from around the world. It takes place after La Virgen Del Carmen Festival.

La Loza Festival

La Loza Festival is the main celebration of the municipality. It started for the first time in 1975. From that year varieties of ceramic tableware and other items made of mud for sale are exhibited. This year different musical artist will perform: Group Niche, The Combo of the Stars, Luisito Muñoz, Jhon Alex Castaño, Hebert Vargas, and many more. It takes place the first week of December in the main square.

Little Carnival of Andean and Latin American Music

Little Carnival of Andean and Latin American Music is an event created by The Institute of Culture of El Carmen De Viboral since 1996. The Little Carnaval meets different genres and rhythms of music Andean and Latin American as spaces to promote the culture of these genres. This event takes place in the month of October every year.
